Labour productivity in mixed-model manual assembly 4.0

Abstract Manual assembly lines productivity is threatened by the increased complexity brought mass customisation demand trends. Industry 4.0 offers potential solutions to address this situation, but methodology implement it still a subject of study. As preliminary step, article aims identify dominant factors affecting Key Performance Indicators mixed-model lines. To do so, parametric and discrete-events simulation models were developed, Design Experiments techniques used. The results show that key drivers for line performance are number work stations batch size, increasing content ratio products assembled does not interact negatively with other factors. presented here pave way developing projects specifically most relevant affect performance.
